Yes. Coke and coffee. Sounds really weird but actually tastes good!
We learned about it first through this huge billboard plastered on one of the walls of the train station we take to work. It’s supposed to be one of those seasonal products that come and go after a few months. It’s also supposedly found only on Coke vending machines. We didn’t know this at first so we checked all the grocery and convenience stores around the office during lunch break because who doesn’t want to drink twice the amount of caffeine in one drink? 😝 But of course, since the drink was vending machine-only, we weren’t able to find it that way.
Then one day, one of our Japanese office mates who sits behind me comes to the office with a can of the stuff. He was talking about how it was sold out on all the vending machines in Akihabara. That’s when we found out that we were looking at the wrong places and started combing through the Coke vending machines throughout Meguro. Sadly, it doesn’t appear like they sell it in both Meguro and Gakugeidaigaku but we weren’t about to give up.
After around two weeks of constant searching, we finally stumbled upon a vending machine that sells the elusive Coke Coffee! We went to Shinjuku today to look for the remittance center and we had to pass by random alleyways that had some vending machines lined up. We saw the Coke Coffee, bought one, and tried it immediately. It tasted like regular coke but with a coffee candy aftertaste. If you’ve ever tried one of those XO or Kopiko coffee candies, the aftertaste is exactly like that! It was surprisingly good and Adrian and I both liked it. After going to the remittance center, we decided to buy one more can to take home. 😆
Adrian and I are just sad that our little scavenger hunt is over. It’s now a bit sad whenever we see vending machines knowing we’re not looking for something in particular anymore. LOL
